The original Schmidt® ASAP Safety System is designed to deliver the highest level of safety and protection. It quickly and safely depressurizes the blast hose when the deadman control is released in less than one second. For comparison, a conventional blast outlet connected to 200 foot of 1 ½” diameter blast hose and a No. 8 (½”) blast nozzle requires up to 14 seconds to release pressure and be safe.
When the ASAP II Safety System is paired with a 3 position trigger deadman, the operator can normally shutdown the ASAP without releasing compressed air and grit. The blaster can shut off the blast air and grit flow before opening the pinch ram to the exhaust port, allowing the operator to safely shift and make minor adjustments. This function helps cutdown on wear at the pinch point, extending the life of the discharge hose and reducing the need for maintenance.
The ASAP Safety System now includes the new patent pending Quikclaw™ fitting, that enables faster and easier replacement of a worn ASAP discharge hose. Conventional blast hose couplings require a vise to hold the blast hose while the coupling is first removed and then installed onto a new blast hose, steps that are strenuous and extremely time consuming to perform in the field where a vice is rarely accessible. The Quikclaw significantly reduces ASAP equipment down time and increases worker productivity.
All of the new features in the improved design create the quickest response operator initiated shutdown air blast system on the market along with longer hose life and easier maintenance.
